Coach Melissa Vickers
Melissa was born in Marietta, GA. She grew up playing tennis, softball, and competed on her high school swim team as well as the state of Georgia swim team. At 13, she tried out and made the Junior Atlanta Falcons Cheerleading team, and soon after joined the competitive Georgia Pro Cheer All Stars Dance team in which she traveled around the country competing.
Sophomore year she began weightlifting class, which led her to being asked to join and compete in the high school shot put and discus team. It was at that time that Melissa fell in love with weightlifting. On top of her being into all things sports, she also had a deep passion for theater and performing.
Melissa participated in her high school musical theater, women’s choir, show choir, and the State of Georgia choir. At 17, she sang in Carnegie Hall in New York City, and at 18 auditioned for the Broadway Dance Center internship program in NYC, where she was one of 13 people chosen from the United States and Canada.
Melissa moved to Los Angeles in her 20’s, and began working in Television & Film. While out on a walk in 2013, she stumbled upon a Crossfit box on Melrose Avenue. After nervously agreeing to try a fundamentals intro class with a friend, she fell in love once again with a new sport! After months of taking class, Melissa decided to get her Crossfit Level 1 in 2014 and start coaching. Shortly after, she went for her Crossfit Kids cert and created Crossfit Kids programs at three different boxes in Los Angeles. Melissa is very passionate about helping inspire & motivate others through fitness as her coaches did for her over the years.
